In part 1, We have already discussed the concept of 72 virgins (houri) and their characteristics on the basis of the Quran. Now we will see the hadiths which are used by mullahs to explain this concept.

Shaykh Gibril Haddad is a hadith expert (muhaddith), recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities on the Shari’ah. In 2009, he was listed amongst the inaugural "500 most influential Muslims in the world,". The following borrows mainly from a 2005 fatwa issued by him [1].

Narrated Al-Miqdam bin Ma'diykarib:
That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "There are six things with Allah for the martyr. He is forgiven with the first flow of blood (he suffers), he is shown his place in Paradise, he is protected from punishment in the grave, secured from the greatest terror, the crown of dignity is placed upon his head - and its gems are better than the world and what is in it - he is married to seventy two wives along Al-Huril-'Ayn of Paradise, and he may intercede for seventy of his close relatives."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ الْقَطَّانِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ يُعْطَى الْمُؤْمِنُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ قُوَّةَ كَذَا وَكَذَا مِنَ الْجِمَاعِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَوَيُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ ‏"‏ يُعْطَى قُوَّةَ مِائَةٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عِمْرَانَ الْقَطَّانِ ‏.‏

Anas narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "The believer shall be given in paradise such and such strength in intercourse ." it was said: "O Messenger of Allah! And will he able to do that?" He said: "He will be given the strength of a hundred."

It was narrated from Zayd ibn Arqam that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A man among the people of Paradise will be given the strength of a hundred men for eating, drinking, desire and sexual intercourse. A man among the Jews said, ‘The one who eats or drinks needs to excrete!’ The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to him: ‘The excretion of any one of them will be in the form of sweat which comes out through his skin, then his stomach will reduce in size again.’” (Narrated by Ahmad, no. 18509; al-Daarimi, no. 2704) [3]
It was collected by Ahmad (4/367, 371) and others with an authentic chain. Ibn al-Qayyim authenticated it in Haadee al-Arwaah (p.187), as did Al-Albaanee in Saheeh at-Targheeb (#3739).

Argument of Muslim mullahs: मुस्लिम मुल्लाओं का तर्क
1. White Rasins: सफेद किशमिश
This claim originated from Christoph Luxenberg, a modern author writing under a pseudonym. He suggests that the term houri actually meant to describe "white raisins" .and that the Aramaic word 'hur' (white raisin) had been mistranslated by later Arab commentators into the Arabic word 'houri' (virgin). The Quran describes the physical characteristics of the houri in many places, such as, large eyes, big breasts,chaste, and restraining their glances.[ The Quran further states that men will be wed to these houri. These relevant verses suggest that Luxenberg's "white rasins" theory is in error.

2.Virgins are only mentioned in hadith not Quran: हूर केवल हदीस में वर्णित है कुरान नहीं :
Although the Quran does not mention the exact number of virgins, it does state that Muslim men will be awarded with (multiple) virgins in heaven.The Quran describes some of their physical attributes and personality traits. The number of houri are confirmed in multiple hadiths. Also worth noting is that hadiths are a crucial part of Islam but can be ignored by certain Muslims who disagree with hadiths on details about Islam.

3.Houri are only servants and not for sexual purposes: हूरें केवल नौकर हैं और यौन उद्देश्यों के लिए नहीं:
The Quran details that houri are chaste virgins that have big breasts.[Quran 56:36] While the Quran does not explicitly state they are for sexual purposes this is mentioned in other Islamic sources. One source state (hasan hadith [2,3]) that "that man in heaven will have the sexual strength of 100 men for sex in heaven".

4.Houri are for both men and women: हूरें पुरुषों और महिलाओं दोनों के लिए हैं:

The Quran indicates that houris will be "untouched before them by both man and jinni" [Quran 55:74] Implying that they are females that are awarded to men.

Use of this concept for terrorism by mullahs: मुल्लाओं द्वारा आतंकवाद के लिए इस अवधारणा का उपयोग:

Suicide is clearly forbidden in Islam [Qur'an, 4:29-30], but the permissibility of Istishhad (martyrdom) has scholars split on the issue.The Quran states that all Muslim males, not only martyrs, will be rewarded with virgins.[Quran 56:36] However, the Quran does also mention that those who fight in the way of Allah (jihad) and get killed will be given a "great reward",[Quran 4:74]. This has lead to the 72 virgins concept being widely used as a way to entice martyrdom. This phenomena can be witnessed in Palestine, where the actions of a mother who sends her son to die as a martyr is sometimes seen as "marrying him off",[https://palwatch.org/database/35] and where the concept is used in Friday sermons and music videos, both airing on official television. [https://palwatch.org/database/35]

"Each time we sleep with a Houri we find her virgin. Besides, the penis of the Elected never softens. The erection is eternal; the sensation that you feel each time you make love is utterly delicious and out of this world and were you to experience it in this world you would faint. Each chosen one [i.e. Muslim] will marry seventy [sic] houris, besides the women he married on earth, and all will have appetizing vaginas." - Al-Suyuti, Al-Itqan fi Ulum al-Qur'an, p. 351

Islam and 72 virgin houri (Part-1): इस्लाम और 72 अक्षत योनि हूरें (भाग 1)

The 72 virgins or 72 houri refers to a celestial being that is an aspect of heaven or Jannah (Arabic: جنّة‎ 'Jannah'; plural: Jannat). This concept is mentioned in Qur'anic text as a reward to Muslim men after death. According to the Quran, once in Jannah, Muslim are wed to virgins with "full-grown," "swelling" or "pears-shaped" breasts. The Quran provides a physical and personal description of the houri and denotes them as awards to believers. Sahih (authentic) hadith detail the amount if houris and what they are for. Often scholars refer to hadiths that describe heaven as a slave market where there will be "no buy and sell, but... If any man wishes to have sexual intercourse with a woman, he will do at once[1,2]. Al-Suyuti (died 1505), who, echoing a Sahih hadith from Ibn Majah, wrote that the perpetual virgins will all "have appetizing vaginas," and that the "penis of the Elected never softens. The erection is eternal."

The concept of houri can be found in major Islamic scriptures. The Quran states believing males will be rewarded with virgins.[English Qur'an 78:31-33, Hindi Qur'an 78:31-33] Often put under question is the authenticity of the hadiths regarding houri.[3] A common misconception is that there is only one da`if (weak) hadith that refers to the exact number of houri awarded. These narrations are, in fact, found in many hadith collections with varying levels of authenticity, ranging from Hasan (good) to Sahih (authentic). For example, in the Sunan Ibn Majah, one of the six major hadith collections, [5] it states in a Hasan (good) [3] narration that every male admitted into heaven will be given eternal erections and wed to 72 wives, all with libidinous sex organs. Sunan al-Tirmidhi, another of the six major hadith collections,[5] states that the smallest reward for the people of heaven is an abode with seventy-two houri.[6] This hadith has been graded Hasan Sahih,[3], meaning this hadith is Hasan (good) since it has several chains of transmitters; it is also Sahih (authentic) as the chains are all declared authentic delivered by Imam Tirmidhi.[22]

وَعِندَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ - 37:48

And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, (Quran 37:48)

They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. (Quran 52:20)

كَأَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُونِ - 56:23

The likenesses of pearls well-protected,

मानो छिपाए हुए मोती हों।

In them are women limiting [their] glances, untouched before them by man or jinni 

उन (अनुकम्पाओं) में निगाह बचाए रखनेवाली (सुन्दर) स्त्रियाँ होंगी, जिन्हें उनसे पहले न किसी मनुष्य ने हाथ लगाया होगा और न किसी जिन्न ने।

حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَاتٌ فِي الْخِيَامِ - 55:72

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ -55:73

لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَانٌّ - 55:74

Fair ones reserved in pavilions -So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -Untouched before them by man or jinni -

हूरें (परम रूपवती स्त्रियाँ) ख़ेमों में रहनेवाली;अतः तुम दोनों अपने रब के चमत्कारों में से किस-किस को झुठलाओगे?, जिन्हें उनसे पहले न किसी मनुष्य ने हाथ लगाया होगा और न किसी जिन्न ने।

2.Virgins, कुंवारी

فَجَعَلْنَاهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا - 56:36

And made them virgins,

और हमने उन्हे कुँवारियाँ बनाया;

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏

"‏ إِنَّ أَوَّلَ زُمْرَةٍ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ عَلَى أَشَدِّ كَوْكَبٍ دُرِّيٍّ فِي السَّمَاءِ إِضَاءَةً، لاَ يَبُولُونَ وَلاَ يَتَغَوَّطُونَ وَلاَ يَتْفِلُونَ وَلاَ يَمْتَخِطُونَ، أَمْشَاطُهُمُ الذَّهَبُ، وَرَشْحُهُمُ الْمِسْكُ، وَمَجَامِرُهُمُ الأَلُوَّةُ الأَنْجُوجُ عُودُ الطِّيبِ، وَأَزْوَاجُهُمُ الْحُورُ الْعِينُ، عَلَى خَلْقِ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ عَلَى صُورَةِ أَبِيهِمْ آدَمَ، سِتُّونَ ذِرَاعًا فِي السَّمَاءِ ‏"

Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The first group of people who will enter Paradise, will be glittering like the full moon and those who will follow them, will glitter like the most brilliant star in the sky. They will not urinate, relieve nature, spit, or have any nasal secretions. Their combs will be of gold, and their sweat will smell like musk. The aloes-wood will be used in their centers. Their wives will be houris. All of them will look alike and will resemble their father Adam (in stature), sixty cubits tall." (Sahih Bukhari / Volume 4 / Book 55 / Hadith 544)
अबू हुरैरा द्वारा वर्णित:
अल्लाह के रसूल (ﷺ) ने कहा, "जो लोग स्वर्ग में प्रवेश करेंगे, उनका पहला समूह पूर्णिमा के चांद की की तरह चमचमाता रहेगा और जो लोग उनका अनुसरण करेंगे, वे आकाश के सबसे शानदार तारे की तरह चमकेंगे। वे पेशाब नहीं करेंगे, प्रकृति को राहत देंगे, थूक, या कोई भी नाक स्राव नहीं करेंगे। उनके कंघे सोने के होंगे, और उनके पसीने में कस्तूरी जैसी गंध होगी। उनके केंद्रों में अलो-वुड का उपयोग किया जाएगा। उनकी पत्नियां हूर होंगी। वे सभी एक जैसी दिखेंगी । वे अपने पिता एडम (कद में) की तरह दिखेंगी, साठ हाथ लंबा होंगी। "

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ إِنَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ خَيْمَةً مِنْ لُؤْلُؤَةٍ مُجَوَّفَةٍ، عَرْضُهَا سِتُّونَ مِيلاً، فِي كُلِّ زَاوِيَةٍ مِنْهَا أَهْلٌ، مَا يَرَوْنَ الآخَرِينَ يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ‏"‏‏.‏ ‏"‏ وَجَنَّتَانِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، آنِيَتُهُمَا وَمَا فِيهِمَا، وَجَنَّتَانِ مِنْ كَذَا آنِيَتُهُمَا، وَمَا فِيهِمَا، وَمَا بَيْنَ الْقَوْمِ وَبَيْنَ أَنْ يَنْظُرُوا إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ إِلاَّ رِدَاءُ الْكِبْرِ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فِي جَنَّةِ عَدْنٍ ‏"‏‏.‏

Narrated `Abdullah bin Qais:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "In Paradise there is a pavilion made of a single hollow pearl sixty miles wide, in each corner of which there are wives who will not see those in the other corners; and the believers will visit and enjoy them. And there are two gardens, the utensils and contents of which are made of silver; and two other gardens, the utensils and contents of which are made of so-and-so (i.e. gold) and nothing will prevent the people staying in the Garden of Eden from seeing their Lord except the curtain of Majesty over His Face."(Sahih Bukhari / Volume 6 / Book 60 / Hadith 402)
अल्लाह के रसूल ने कहा, '' स्वर्ग में, साठ मील चौड़े एक खोखले मोती से बना एक मंडप है, जिसके प्रत्येक कोने में पत्नियाँ हैं जो दूसरे कोनों में पत्नियाँ को नहीं देख सकेंगी और विश्वासी उनके दर्शन करेंगे और उनका आनंद लेंगे; और दो बगीचे हैं, जिनमें से बर्तन और सामग्री चांदी से बने हैं, और दो अन्य उद्यान, बर्तन और सामग्री जिनमें से बहुत से सामग्री चांदी और सोना से बने हैं । अदन का बगीचा उनके भगवान को देखने से उनके चेहरे पर महिमा के पर्दे को छोड़कर और कुछ भी नहीं लोगों को रहने से रोक देगा। "
